Roger de Montebello is a French-American painter. He was born in Paris in 1964, into a family with a penchant for the arts. After studying the foundations of drawing and painting at the Facultad de Bellas Artes in Seville (1984-1985), he continued his artistic education (painting, history and philosophy of art) at Harvard University, from which he graduated (Bachelor of Arts) in 1988.

He exhibited his paintings for the first time in 1992, in Paris. In the same year, he set up his studio in Venice, where he still lives and works today. In 2011 he took part in the Venice Art Biennale, with an exhibition entitled Montebello-Megachromia. After various solo exhibitions, notably in Paris and London, in 2017 the Correr Museum in Venice devoted a solo exhibition to his painting, Portraits of Venice and Other Portraits, under the scientific direction of Gabriella Belli and curated by Jean Clair.
